ABOUT:

Tai was formerly Head Strength & Conditioning (S&C) Coach for the Canadian National Halfpipe Ski Team, where he led the daily dry-land S&C training programs for elite ski athletes. Prior to working with freestyle ski athletes, Tai earned his PhD in Western Australia with an emphasis in Sport Science. During his time in Australia at the Surfing Australia High Performance Centre (SAHPC), he was Lead S&C Coach for the junior surfing athletes’ scholarship program. In addition to being a scholar student, Tai was the Assistant S&C Coach at the SAHPC for professional surfing athletes.

Tai was heavily involved with preparing the qualified National Halfpipe Ski athletes for the 2018 Winter Olympic Games in PyeongChang. One of the most memorable moments at the Winter Games was seeing the joy of the athlete’s family regardless of the performance outcome.

Tai enjoys weightlifting, tennis, hiking, trail running and snowboarding on the beautiful and amazing Whistler Blackcomb Mountains.

Tai is available for designing both effective strength & conditioning and general fitness training programs, as well as consultations.

TESTIMONIALS

"I have been fortunate enough to work with Tai for the lead up to the 2018 PyeongChang Olympics. He was the most effective and knowledgeable strength and conditioning coach that I have ever encountered. There is no doubt in my mind that he not only made me stronger but also a smarter, more effective trainer. With his help I was able to maximize my potential."

Olympic Silver Medalist | World Champion

“I spent the four years leading up to the 2018 Winter Olympics working with Tai, and can’t speak highly enough of him! He takes his time to create a program specific to your needs and is very flexible to adjust exercises depending on your training ability. Tai makes workouts challenging while still enjoyable. Anybody looking to get stronger, fitter and healthier, Tai is the man!”

Yuki Tsubota,

2014 & 2018 Canadian Freestyle Ski Olympian

2016 Mammoth WC Gold Medalist

“Tai has not only become my favourite trainer and strength coach, but honestly one of my favourite people ever. In 2017, when I was the youngest (14yrs) and smallest on the National Development Freestyle Ski Team, Tai took on my training and athletic development in a completely unique, custom designed way. He formed an effective training program for me to develop strength in all areas needed to become the strongest athlete in my field while benefiting my growing body. During my time with Tai, I gained a confidence to my body that I never knew. He helped me unlock strength and power I never knew I had and pushed me to be the best I could be. There is simply nothing Tai can’t do, all while being the most knowledgeable, genuine and encouraging coach, who will surely become a special friend to you amidst your athletic journey. Be advised, I will steal him one day, haha!”

Canadian National Slopestyle Ski Team Member

“I had the privilege to work with Tai for several years during my time as member of the Canadian National Halfpipe Ski Team. During this time I suffered from a complicated knee injury that required ACL reconstruction surgery. Tai’s knowledge of sport and exercise science was essential in my recovery. Tai was both knowledgeable and passionate about putting in the extra work to make sure that I was on track. He excels in detailed programs that cater to an athlete’s goals. Tai designed a long-term program that helped me to recover from my injury, come back stronger, and then maintain that strength over my season. Any athlete would be lucky to benefit from his extensive knowledge in sport and exercise science.”

Keltie Hansen

2014 Winter Olympian

2011 AFP Halfpipe Champion

“I had the pleasure of working with Tai for three years. His vast knowledge in the field of sport science helped me excel in the gym, and in turn, the Halfpipe. I always looked forward to my sessions in the gym with Tai. He insured our training environment was both welcoming and rewarding. Every day we worked together was productive, and led to improvements in my strength and performance as a high performance athlete. Following recovery from concussions and MCL Grade 2 injury, Tai helped me regain the strength and confidence that I needed to perform at the highest level. I’d never doubted my ability to recover from injuries because I knew that following Tai’s guidance was the absolute best thing I could do. Most importantly, Tai never took the fun out of training. He always had the largest smile on his face, which motivated the entire team to enjoy our time in the gym. It was easy to see how much he loved his work, and how lucky we were to have him as our strength and conditioning coach.”
